Sweet Stampede Blog Hop March 2025

Good afternoon and happy March.  I'm so glad you made it back to my blog for another creative hop with several members of the Sweet Stampede!  Our focus this month is a color challenge designed by our blog organizer, Lisa Cunningham.  You might remember my crafty tidbit about using the colors found in Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper (DSP) for inspiration.  I also use color challenges to help get the creative juices flowing and this one does not disappoint!  Aren't the colors bright and cheery - great for Spring-themed projects?!

Here's my card using these main colors:

And now on to the directions for my card:

  • The base is a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Basic White Thick card stock scored at 4 1/4.
  • I then "dry embossed" a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Basic White card stock with the Dotted Circles 3D embossing folder (#163789).
  • I used the Spotlight On Nature dies (#163580) to cut out the Basic Black circle.  The sentiment, taken from the Attention Shoppers stamp set,(#163640) was then "wet embossed" using white embossing powder.
  • Finally, I die cut the butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies bundle (#164615), adhering them with dimensionals.  I really like how they POP against the black circle!

While this is a multi-layered card, putting it all together was not difficult once all the pieces were embossed and die cut.

I hope you like my card using the specially designed color challenge.  I'll let you in on another secret for combining SU inks and papers: My Create Ink Color Lab.  The combinations are almost endless using this tool.  The creator even includes retired SU shades for those who horde, I mean TREASURE, all the colors! :D

Next up is the super creative, Patti Shanahan-Davidson, from Patti's Craftin' Shenanigans.  Click on the image below to swing by her blog:
