Wow - how time flies.  I was looking back to see when I last participated in the Sweet Stampede blog hop, and I can't believe it was back in May!  The summer was a blur and back to school was here before I knew it.  Our hop leader, Lisa Cunningham, does such an amazing job with the themes each month.  I'm so glad to be back for this month's hop.  This month's theme is anything from the holiday mini catalog, which goes live TODAY!  To be honest, I don't usually buy many items from the holiday catalog.  My big purchases are usually from the annual and the spring mini catalogs.  But don't let me deter you from buying all the cute designs you'll find when you click on the link to your right, which will give you access to the holiday catalog. :)

The bundle I used is called Branching Out.  Not only does it have dies for the images in the set, but it also includes nesting rectangular "photo mats."  I'm calling them photo mats because that's what they remind me of when I was a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s.  Here's my project with the card recipe, but before you scroll down, know that the fun fold card is CASEd from Connie Stewart, a long time Stampin' Up demonstrator.  Remember that CASEd means "Copy and Share Everything!"  What's cool about her project is that you can make two cards at once with her measurements.  Here's the link to her Youtube video if you want to see how she does it!  It's called a double Z fold - you'll see from my photos why!



Card recipe:
  • Card base #1 is 5½ x 8¼, scored at 2¾ and 5½
  • Card base #2 is 4¼ x 8¼, scored at 2¾ and 5½
  • Basic White pieces are 2½ x 4 and 2½ x 5¼ - stamp the larger one with the leaves from the Branching Out set in Cloud Cover
  • Cajun Craze piece was cut with the 4th largest "photo mat" rectangle (approx. 2½ x 4) and stamped with the same leaves in Cajun Craze
  • Petal Pink layer is 2½ x 4, stamped with the same leaves in Cajun Craze
  • Rather than leaving the front panel of the Secret Sea base plain, I stamped the same branches in Secret Sea ink
  • Inside sentiment is stamped in Secret Sea on a ⅝ x 4 piece of Basic White
  • Circle is die cut from the Stylish Shapes (4th largest - approx. 1¾ diameter) set - stamped in Petal Pink and adhered with dimensionals to give it, well...dimension!

Sweet Stampede Blog Hop April 2025

  Hello and happy April Fool's Day.  There will be no tricks today but plenty of fun as you visit each stop of our awesome Sweet Stampede Blog Hop.   If you've been visiting me since January, you know I like using sketches to help me when I am in a creative rut.  It's good to also know that they're good whenever!   This month, Lisa Cunningham, our blog hop organizer, has designed this sketch for us:   e  When I saw this sketch, I knew it would be a good way to use scraps of paper.  I decided to use a combination of patterned paper (SU! calls them Designer Series Paper [DSP]) and cardstock.  To add dimension, I also dry embossed one of the pieces.   Before I share my project, I would like to point out that a strict rendering of the sketch is not required.  Use your imagination and you will be pleased with your end product.  Now on to my card and directions. Sweet Stampede Blog Hop March 2025

Good afternoon and happy March.  I'm so glad you made it back to my blog for another creative hop with several members of the Sweet Stampede!  Our focus this month is a color challenge designed by our blog organizer, Lisa Cunningham.  You might remember my crafty tidbit about using the colors found in Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper (DSP) for inspiration.  I also use color challenges to help get the creative juices flowing and this one does not disappoint!  Aren't the colors bright and cheery - great for Spring-themed projects?!    Here's my card using these main colors: And now on to the directions for my card: The base is a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Basic White Thick card stock scored at 4 1/4.
