Sweet Stampede Blog Hop May 2025

Hello and welcome back to another Sweet Stampede Blog Hop! This month is a combo sketch AND a color challenge. Here's the inspiration my crafty friends and I used for our projects. The moment our blog hop coordinator, Lisa Cunningham, posted this image, I thought, "what a fantastic way to use up all my scraps!" I don't know about you, but I have LOTS of scraps in my collection - DSP and cardstock - that I have trouble letting go. I always think I can use them on a future project. LOL.
You might not recognize these adorable colors. That's because they don't become orderable until Tuesday, May 6th, when our new catalog goes live. These are three of the five new 2025-2027 In Colors from Stampin' Up! Every year, five new colors are introduced and five colors retire. While I am usually sad to see these In Colors go, it's always nice to have fresh new ones to create with. And these do not disappoint. Like I said, these are a part of five. The other two are Cloud Cover and a returning favorite, Strawberry Slush.
And here's my project - a graduation card using all five In Colors. :) While I could have used scraps, I didn't have any in the new colors. So I cut out 12 quarter inch strips using 4 of the colors. The 5th color - Secret Sea - is used in the stamped images/sentiment and the base card stock. This is standard 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of card stock scored at 4 1/4. I started by adhering a strip at both the top and bottom then spacing the next strip just shy of a quarter of an inch from each other. 12 strips evenly spaced is a labor of love! The sentiment and graduation cap are stamped using Secret Sea and die cut using the Around it All bundle. The bundle is great for celebrating special events like graduation and a new baby. I like the wonky shape of the circles, and I've even seen them used to create pebbles - super cute!

I hope you enjoyed my project. I'm planning to give it to one of my daughters later this month. She has worked really hard and I am very proud of her graduation from the University of Arizona - go Wildcats! Now on to the next stop with Patti Shanahan-Davidson at Patti's Craftin' Shenanigans (click on the image).
If you ever get off track, here's the roll call for all seven of the participants in this month's blog hop.
