Sweet Stampede Blog Hop April 2025
Hello and happy April Fool's Day. There will be no tricks today but plenty of fun as you visit each stop of our awesome Sweet Stampede Blog Hop. If you've been visiting me since January, you know I like using sketches to help me when I am in a creative rut. It's good to also know that they're good whenever! This month, Lisa Cunningham, our blog hop organizer, has designed this sketch for us:
When I saw this sketch, I knew it would be a good way to use scraps of paper. I decided to use a combination of patterned paper (SU! calls them Designer Series Paper [DSP]) and cardstock. To add dimension, I also dry embossed one of the pieces. Before I share my project, I would like to point out that a strict rendering of the sketch is not required. Use your imagination and you will be pleased with your end product. Now on to my card and directions.
- The base is a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Wild Wheat, scored at 4 1/4
- The layer is a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Gray Granite
- The two segments of DSP measure 1 6/16 x 3 3/4 and was taken from the Everyday Happiness pack. I will admit 6/16 is not a typical measurement but I was really trying to get the sketch exact. I know, I know, didn't I just say that it isn't necessary to strictly adhere to the sketch?! Hahaha - oops!
- The Pretty Peacock piece is 1 1/8 x 3 3/4, which I then embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder
- The "fish tail" piece of Lost Lagoon measures 7/8 x 4
- Finally, the Basic White layer is cut using one of the dies from the Peaceful Season bundle and stamped with a sentiment from Hooray for Surprises in Pretty Peacock. I knew the dies were a part of the Last Chance section but didn't know they were out of stock. I apologize for any disappointment this may cause. We have plenty of other die sets that will fit perfectly, though. I added dimensionals to give it some lift.
Here's the list to all of this month's participants. I hope you make it to all eight crafters. You'll find lots of different interpretations of the sketch and ideas for your own projects.
