Sweet Stampede Blog Hop January 2025

Hello and Happy New Year from San Antonio, Texas!  My name is Rubina and I have been a hobby demonstrator with Stampin Up! (SU!) for over a decade.  Even though I have been crafting for many years, this is my very first blog.  I am a part of a wonderful team called Sweet Stampede, under the leadership of Erica Cerwin, otherwise known as Pink Buckaroo.  We are starting a monthly blog hop for the first time this year.  My hope is that by creating this blog, I will increase my online presence and maybe even gain a customer or two.  :p  This blog hop is chock full of creativity so don't be surprised if your wish list becomes a mile long.  If you don't already have the new Mini catalog or a demonstrator of your own, please consider supporting my small business.

Currently, my customer base is a group of five amazing women who join me every month for some crafty fun - or paper mania as I like to call it.  In addition to my blog hop posts, I plan to share photos from my monthly gatherings so stop by anytime.

The theme for our inaugural blog hop is anything from the Spring 2025 Mini catalog, which goes live TODAY!  To keep things simple for my very first post, I decided to use one of the templates found on page 12.  If you ever find yourself struggling with card making ideas, these templates (also called sketches) really help get the creative juices going.  Now on to my project!

When I first saw the Terrific Toadstools bundle in the Mini catalog, I just had to have it.  One of my daughters loves mushrooms and since her birthday is next month, I figured I could get a head start on her birthday card!

Aren't those mushrooms CUTE?!  The photos aren't that great but I promise to get better as I continue to maintain this blog. :)

Products used:

  • Terrific Toadstools stamp and punch bundle - page 53, Mini catalog
  • Toadstool Gardens Designer Series Paper (DSP) - page 8, Sale-A-Brations catalog
  • Spotlight on Nature dies
  • Poppy Parade cardstock
  • Basic White cardstock
  • Early Espresso cardstock
  • Granny Apple Green ink
  • Fresh Freesia ink
  • Poppy Parade ink

Card recipe and instructions:

  • Base card is Poppy Parade cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2
  • Cut 2 Basic White pieces at 4 x 5 1/4 and glue one onto the front of the Poppy Parade base
  • Banner is made from DSP cut at 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 - create a "fish tail" on the bottom and adhere to the Basic White layer
  • Glue a piece of Poppy Parade cut at 3 x 3 1/2 onto the DSP banner
  • Cut out a circle from the same DSP pack using the Spotlight on Nature die set - approx. 2 3/4 in diameter and glue onto the Poppy Parade layer
  • Stamp two of the mushroom caps in Granny Apple Green and Fresh Freesia on Basic White and cut out using the Terrific Toadstools Builder punch
  • Cut 2 stems from Early Espresso cardstock using the same punch
  • Add the completed mushrooms on the die cut circle with dimensionals
  • To add a pop of color, I added a 3/4 x 4 1/4 scrap of DSP to the second Basic White layer and glued it to the inside
